The Design Studio is a rare academic environment. In studio, one develops ideas, projects, and self by way of experimentation, collaboration, and expression. The Design Studio embodies a fragile balance between many personal spheres that overlap to create a series of dynamic relationships. It is only when equal respect is paid to all that the Design +Construction School environment can operate to its full potential. Without this balance, this equality and respect, the Design +Construction School environment can become unhealthy. Is our existing school culture a blockade against all that it should be?

The right to have personal property respected.
When one's work and property is not respected, the environment of the Design studio suffers. No relationship can be founded on mistrust. Maybe it is just the Lies People Tell in School. Since the activity of studio is about forming relationships, growth stops in studio when trustful relationships cease. By the way, is the radio on?

The right to have an environment where all ideas and beliefs are respected.
Whether one agrees or disagrees with another’s belief, the classroom is a place that guarantees the right to express that belief without persecution, so long as it (the belief or idea) is respectful to other’s beliefs.

The right to obtain knowledge from courses and experiences outside of studio.
One should have the ability to expect the courses such as seminars like Rural Studio , Urban Studio, and Study Abroad that offer unique opportunities for research, growth and experience. The more experiences and knowledge one gains directly affects the class room environment by way of allowing more connections to be made, thus enriching the school as a whole. Get a chance to expand your horizons out at the Rural Studio or become more connected in the Urban Studio. You should talk to Student Services about it. We have the right to establish our own research agendas, and expect full faculty support.The Frequency

The right to a healthy environment.
A healthy studio environment that is orderly, safe, and free from toxins is crucial to the development of a studio space (Thank goodness for our Cleaning Crew). Just as our bodies function better while healthy, (I'm just Too Tired To... ) a Design studio functions better while healthy.

How to collaborate:

1. Grab a smooooth, Cold, never watered down Best Ice or a nice can of fresca then proceed to step (2).
2. Check out Wiki Good Style for the protocols that make the Wiki community work.

5. Try out the Sand Box to experiment, post random thoughts, etc.
6. Use the "breadcrumb" menu at the top of the page to return to the last five pages you have visited, or simply click the black square in the top left corner to get back to this page.
7. If you delete something in error, or find that a pages has been maliciously hacked or deleted, simply click on the "versions" button, select the page with the last good configuration, click "edit," then click "save." If you continue to have problems see Wiki Tricks for answers, or contact Rusty Smith and changes can be restored. A date and time of the last good version is helpful, but not required.
